modules

The pv modules distributed and installed by On Energy Spa are modules sylicon crystalline by Canadian Solar, MPrime and REC.

A photovoltaic module is a device that can convert the solar energy directly in electric energy. The installation, stiked by the sunbeams, produces continuous electric energy, that through a device of transformation and adaptation, the inverter, is transformed in alternated current at 230 V. The energy modified is introduced in the electric installation to foment the users. The installation requires a minimum maintenance, resists at every climate events and works all the year. A module is constituted by a variable number of cells placed in series. Every single photovoltaic cell (PV) can produce 3,5 Watt of power at a standard temperature of 25°. Basing on the number of connected cells the power of the panel will vary. In order to transfer the produced current at the net are needed a series of transformation and adaptation disposal.

The production technologies of the photovoltaic cells are divided in three families:

• Crystalline Silicon: mono and poli
• Thin film as traditional amorfo.
• Cadmium tellurium.

Crystalline Silicon

This technology is the most commercialized for its availability and for the best performance in terms of quality/price relation.

Silicon monocrystalline, the modules cells of the monocrystalline silicon are constituted by a single silicon cristalline. The higher purity of the material is guarantee of performance (equal to 15%).
The photovoltaic cells are uniform blue coloured and, usually, have eight side shape. With a thickness of 0,2 – 0,3 mm.
The silicon photovoltaic modules monocrystalline are ideal for who have at disposal a limited laying surface.

The silicon polycrystalline, is constituted by a group of silicon crystals, this less purity is the cause of the lower performance, around 11% - 14%.
They are characterized by blue colour. Thanks to new production technologies and to high research and development investments, the costs of production are lower achieving good efficiency levels.

Thin Film

Is the easier technology to produce, but also the one that guarantees the lowest performance, around 6% - 8%. The creation process of the cell is very easy: on a rigid substrate (glass or metal), are deposited different materials layers with suitable technologies, two of these layers becomes conduction electrode, then the internal strata becomes junction of the photovoltaic cell.
It is very valid, with good performance in conditions of low value of sunbeams, adaptable at flexible supports.

Another technology tied at the sector of thin film is CIS.
The result obtained gives values of efficiency higher than the “amorfo”, around the 10% - 11%.
In the future these technologies will give results equal to modules of the same dimensions and of the same power created in cristalline silicon, but with lower production costs.

Cadmium tellurum

With cadmium tellurum is possible to obtain higher efficiencies than the “amorfo”, 8 – 10% for industrial products (15,8% obtained in labour), but the big problem is the toxicity, the cadmium indeed could become an environmental problem if it’s not correctly used or recycled.
